Weʼre raising £300 to In name of my Grandad Laurence Smith – To go to dDeaflinks Staffordshire a Registered Charity offering services to Deaf people.
In memory of my gorgeous Grandad Laurence Smith who sadly passed away on 29th December 2017 from a short battle with liver cancer. Myself, my brother and our partners are hoping to raise money by climbing Mount Snowdon on 25th August. We will be placing a photograph of our Grandad at the very top and recording our progress throughout the day.
My Grandad attended Deaflinks since he was very young and even met his wife (our nan) there, they went on to live a very happy life together and made a loving family. My Grandad attended Deaflinks until his last days and my Nan still does. It is a great community for people who are Deaf to meet up and enjoy the close friendships they have all shared there for many years. Deaflinks would find the money very beneficial to keep their services going and my Grandad would want money raised in his name going to them.
Here is a bit about the charity –
Deaflinks is not just a charity it is a community! Deaflinks Staffordshire is a non -statutory Registered Charity offering services to Deaf people throughout Staffordshire. They offer information and advice on a range of issues, they also provide training courses, social groups and religious services. The charity is committed to actively supporting the equal opportunities of all Deaf people in employment, training, services, information and education. The charities services and support are equally in demand in 2018 as in 1868 when the charity was first founded 150 years ago. Today’s Deaf adults can enjoy the centre and all the activities that take place in an environment that caters for their needs and interests.
Any donations will be greatly received by Deaflinks and will help them in supporting the deaf community of Staffordshire.
